DO NOT call the practice for a sick note. Visit https://111.nhs.uk/covid-19 where you can get a note for your employer. This is only if you have symptoms and used 111 online, been told by a healthcare professional you have the symptoms or live with someone with the virus
The NHS and Public Health England (PHE) are extremely well prepared for outbreaks of new infectious diseases. The NHS has put in place measures to ensure the safety of all patients and NHS staff while also ensuring services are available to the public as normal.
The risk to the general public is moderate.
Call 111 now if you've been:
to Wuhan or Hubei Province in China; Iran, an Italian town under containment or Republic of Korea towns under containment in the last 14 days (even if you do not have symptoms)
to other parts of China, plus Hong Kong, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, North Italy, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar in the last 14 days and have a cough, high temperature or shortness of breath (even if it's mild)
in close contact with someone with confirmed coronavirus
Do not go to a GP surgery, community pharmacy or hospital, Call 111, stay indoors and avoid close contact with other people

Like the common cold, coronavirus infection usually occurs through close contact with a person with novel coronavirus via cough and sneezes or hand contact. A person can also be infected by touching contaminated surfaces if they do not wash their hands.
The risk of being in close contact with a person with coronavirus or contaminated surfaces is very low at the current time.
Testing of suspected coronavirus cases is carried out in line with strict regulations. This means that suspected cases are kept in isolation, away from public areas of the hospital and returned home also in isolation. Any equipment that come into contact with suspected cases are thoroughly cleaned as appropriate. Specific guidance has also been shared with NHS staff to help safeguard them and others. Patients can be reassured that their safety is a top priority, and are encouraged to attend all appointments as usual.
Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:
- Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
- Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
- Avoid close contact with people who are unwell.

Flu Vaccination Clinics
Influenza (Flu) is an acute viral respiratory infection which can be spread quickly from person to person.
Symptoms include fever, chills, headache, muscle pain, extreme fatigue, a dry cough, sore throat and stuffy nose; most of us will recover within a week but occasionally it can cause severe illness or even death in people at high risk. Vaccination is the most effective way to prevent influenza; therefore patients who are considered to be at greater risk are offered a free vaccination.
If you are a registered patient at JRB Healthcare and are eligible for a flu vaccination, you should shortly be receiving an invite to attend one of our clinics.
Please note, the vaccine for children is delivered out to practices on specific dates and we will notify you when the vaccine is available.
You are eligible for a flu vaccination if you are
- Are 65 years of age or older
- Aged 6 months to 64 years and are in an ‘at risk’ group, i.e. have a long term condition such as Asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases, Diabetes, Chronic Heart Disease, Renal Disease, Liver Disease or Immunosuppression.
- Are pregnant
- Are residing in a long stay residential or care home.
- Receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an elderly or disabled person whose welfare may be at risk if you fall ill.
If you believe you are eligible for a vaccination but do not receive an invite, please contact the practice.

Evening and Weekend Appointments bookable through the practice
Patients registered with our Group can access additional routine appointments during evenings and weekends through the GP+ Nottingham City service.
Appointments are available with GPs, Practice Nurses, Clinical Pharmacists and Physiotherapists in a fully equipped accessible location at 79a Upper Parliament Street in Nottingham City Centre.
This is not a walk-in service. Appointments are required and are bookable through the reception team at your own GP practice.

There are occasions when patients need to be assessed by a Doctor/Nurse which might involve intimate examinations.
Our practice is committed to putting patients at ease whenever possible and if you wish for a chaperone to be present during your examination, please do not hesitate to ask.
Occasionally the practice will close in the afternoon from 12.00 for staff training and updates - the following dates have been allocated for this to take place:

JRB Healthcare has signed up to become dementia-friendly. We will be working with Alzheimer’s Society during the coming year and our staff will be participating in General Practice specific dementia awareness sessions. We will also be carrying out an assessment of how dementia-friendly we are and take steps to improve areas that need attention.
